This is my first venture into the world of blogging, where I share my interests, which include nostalgia, photography, art, writing, sci-fi and fantasy, TV, films, music, books, F1 motor-racing and model building. As the site develops I will add pages with videos and information on those subjects. If you share an interest or simply enjoy what you find then why not leave a comment?
My blog name, GrowlTigger is based on a poem, Growl Tiger’s Last Stand, by T. S. Eliot, and found in his book Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. He is described as a “bravo cat who lives upon a barge” and said to have lost one eye and to have a “somewhat missing” ear. (No, I haven’t lost an eye or part of my ear!) Tigger instead of Tiger was originally an unintentional misspelling by me, but I prefer it now, as it adds a Tigger element to the character which feels appropriate, as I also like the Winnie the Poo stories.
The character also appeared in some productions of the musical Cats, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, when Gus- the Theatre Cat – takes on the character of Growl Tiger. The character and story were not included in all productions or the film release of the musical. My real name is Paul.
The source for my header photo of Carnaby Street in the 1960s is a postcard uploaded to Flickr by hmdavid.
